Choices and Dialogue UI
Pick your poison!
Conversations are full of choices, some of minor weight and some that are story-defining. We decided to create two different styles of choice boxes to indicate this:
Small Choices UI
Less stakes, less effects.
The basic style pertains to simple dialogue and appears within the text box. The previous words do not appear as it mimics the flow of regular conversation.
Big Choices UI
Big stakes, big choices!
In the important choices, the darkens and two cards represent your choices. The prompt remains on the screen to help indicate the high stakes of the choice.
Shop UI
Tarot card selections
When players reach the shop, they are greeted by the shopkeeper Clauneck. The rug from the original game has been adapted to work in this format with it dropping down with the items laid atop. The layout and process was inspired by tarot cards with the items revealing when players hover over them with their mouse.
Gifting items UI
Using the tarot cards
Items purchased from the shop can be gifted to the characters to deepen your relationship and progress the story. The inventory can be accessed anytime from the expanded menu, and certain items may help smooth over conversations.
The items we created are based on the base games’ tarot cards sold by Clauneck. Since the format of a dating sim requires way fewer types of items than a dating sim, we were able to be more ornate with our designs and feature larger illustrations.
Settings UI
Last but not least!
To check settings, we based it off the Lamb’s Cult leader book that is used to upgrade traits in part of the game. For our version, this book serves as a way to keep track of settings, accessibility, gallery, cult members, and save files.
The hands on the side are the hands of the Lamb grabbing the book, which is something original we added to the pre-existing look of the book as well as personalized icons for each category.

Characters and Backgrounds

We re-imagined the existing characters from Cult of the Lamb into sprite forms for the visual novel game style, as well as created backgrounds based on real locations in the original game to bring it more to life and connect it to the source material.
